Atlantosome-Technology

Our Proprietary Lipid Bio-Delivery Platform

Some of nature’s most biologically active ingredients are too fragile to survive conventional cosmetic processing.

Marine microalgae oils rich in omega-3 DHA.

Co-Enzyme Q10.

Delicate seaweed polyphenols.

Sensitive plant antioxidants.

Expose them to oxygen, light, or heat - and they degrade. Use them incorrectly - and they oxidise before they ever reach the skin.

Atlantosome™ was created to solve this.

Atlantosome Lipid Architecture

What Is Atlantosome™?

Atlantosome™ is Atlantik’s proprietary plant-derived lipid bio-delivery platform designed to:

  • Protect delicate actives from oxidation
  • Enhance adhesion to the skin surface
  • Improve bioavailability
  • Deliver ingredients gradually over time
  • Provide sustained 24-hour hydration support
  • Support lipid signalling pathways involved in ceramide synthesis and barrier resilience

It is inspired by natural lipid structures found in plants and adapted using advanced biochemistry to work in harmony with the skin barrier.

Atlantosome™ does not replace skin function. It works with it.

Why Protection Matters

Certain ingredients are rarely used in skincare because they are unstable in traditional formulations.

Omega-3 DHA from marine microalgae, for example, is highly prone to oxidation. When exposed to air or light, it breaks down rapidly. DHA is widely considered the most biologically active and functionally significant omega-3 fatty acid - the true end-point of the omega-3 pathway.

While ALA and EPA are often used in skincare and nutrition, they must be converted into DHA to exert their full biological benefit. That conversion is inefficient in the human body, and notably, human skin lacks significant activity of the delta-6 desaturase enzyme required for effective DHA synthesis. In other words, the skin cannot reliably convert other omega-3s into DHA on its own.

DHA is associated with over 70 known biological functions within the body and plays a critical role in cellular membrane integrity, barrier resilience, inflammatory balance, and lipid signalling involved in ceramide regulation. Yet very few skincare brands utilise it directly, due to its extreme instability and susceptibility to oxidation in conventional systems.

Atlantosome-Skin-Barrier
Through Atlantosome™, DHA and other fragile actives are shielded within a plant-derived lipid structure, preserving their biological integrity until they reach the skin while simultaneously supporting the lipid environment required for optimal ceramide synthesis.
Protection equals performance.

Controlled, Slow Release

Atlantosome™ is designed to release its encapsulated nutrients gradually.

Instead of delivering a sudden burst of actives that dissipate quickly, the system allows:

  • Prolonged hydration
  • Extended antioxidant support
  • Sustained barrier nourishment
  • Continued lipid signalling support for ceramide balance

This controlled release mechanism contributes to 24-hour hydration and ongoing skin support long after application.

Atlantosome-Skin-Barrier-2

Enhanced Skin Affinity

Because Atlantosome™ is lipid-based and biomimetically aligned with skin structure, it adheres naturally to the barrier.

This:

  • Improves ingredient retention
  • Reduces unnecessary evaporation
  • Enhances delivery efficiency
  • Supports deeper interaction with the skin surface
  • Contributes to reinforcement of the skin’s natural ceramide matrix
The skin recognises lipids.
Atlantosome™ speaks that language.

What Goes Inside Atlantosome™

The platform itself is only half the story.

Inside Atlantosome™, we incorporate a synergy of marine microalgae oils, targeted seaweed extracts, plant-based extracts, antioxidants, and supportive lipid nutrients that work collectively across multiple biological pathways, including barrier repair and ceramide optimisation.

Each variant of Atlantosome™ may contain a slightly different bioactive profile depending on product function, while maintaining the same protective, lipid-signalling, and slow-release delivery architecture.

Atlantosome™ is a platform technology.

Atlantosome™ in Atlantik Products

In the Barrier Repair Cream, Atlantosome™ enables:

  • Stabilisation of fragile marine lipids - including algae-derived omega-3 DHA from Schizochytrium
  • Long-lasting lipid replenishment
  • Extended antioxidant support
  • Enhanced skin resilience
  • Support of ceramide synthesis pathways through lipid signalling dynamics
  • Controlled slow release of bioactives lasting up to 24 hours
Due to the efficiency of this lipid bio-delivery architecture, only a pea-sized amount is required to effectively cover the full face.

Future Atlantik innovations may also utilise Atlantosome™ technology, adapting the internal bioactive blend while maintaining the same protective, ceramide-supportive, and controlled-release delivery system.

Atlantosome™ is not a single ingredient. It is Atlantik’s delivery architecture.

Why This Matters

Modern skincare often relies on synthetic encapsulation technologies to stabilise delicate actives. Atlantosome™ achieves protection, delivery, sustained performance, and lipid signalling support using plant-derived lipid systems - without synthetic carriers.

It allows us to use ingredients that would otherwise be impossible to formulate naturally.

It enables higher bioavailability.
It supports barrier health.
It supports ceramide balance.
It extends hydration.
It protects what matters.

The Atlantik Standard

Pure nature alone is powerful.
Biochemistry alone is precise.

Atlantosome™ is where both meet.
